MP-PIC Simulation of Biomass Steam Gasification Using Ilmenite as an Oxygen Carrier

Biomass chemical looping gasification (BCLG) is a complex process for the conversion of biomass using an oxygen carrier, which influenced by various operating parameters. For better understanding this process, steam ilmenite as carrier numerically investigated in work multiphase particle-in-cell (MP-PIC) method, modified Euler–Lagrange approach. As first step, reduced reaction network spouted bed. second coupled with kinetics simulation BCLG lab-scale fluidized both steps, influence main parameters, such reactor temperature, steam-to-biomass ratio, and oxidation degree are compared experimental data from literature. In general, simulations show satisfying results predicted syngas compositions varied parameters good agreement data. Furthermore, trends composition correctly has significant on resulting confirming results.
